Brooke Schwartzman

2022

Brooke Schwartzman is pursuing a dual degree in City & Regional Planning and Public Policy with a shared concentration in environmental planning. After graduating from TCNJ, she completed an AmeriCorps term with FEMA and had the joy of being placed in their environmental preservation department. As much as she enjoyed the experience, she learned that her interest was more geared towards long-term mitigation rather than the emergency response work being completed by the agency. Her goal is to put what she’s learned at Rutgers in action by centering her career around urban climate resilience with an emphasis on green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. As a lifelong NJ resident, she would argue that the future of our state depends on our cities and towns being able to adopt such climate resilience strategies.
